This project in the first two galleries is primarily a screen print piece comprising t-shirts, tote bags, various papers and fabric prints as well as physical works.

"this comment has been deleted" is work inspired by online commentary and people's responses to articles and reviews of art and artists on The Guardian website.

The work is moving into other areas of expression in response to the comments themselves.

The statements are often made by people who feel excluded by the art world and the language used so often illustrates their anger at this. The irony now, of course is that through this project they are a part of the art world whether or not they know it.

The idea in exploring these statements, in part was to take something hidden and by its very nature negative and lift it form the internet, the digital equivilent of a newspaper page and make it into something physical but something positive and aesthetically appealing, I wanted these statements to be read, thought about and taken seriously as a valid response to a feeling of marginalisation. Of course they are not all negative, there are some humourous tongue in cheek words and some bordering on the poetic.

The prints are being presented on a variety of papers and in a variety of colours in an attempt to give a feeling of individuality to each piece, just as each commenter is presenting their individual voice, whether or not this is evident or has worked is a matter for those who view these peices.

The typeface used is deliberately clean, simple and bold.. easy to see and to read in response to the many people who feel overwhelmed by the overly complex nature of "artspeak" and the interpretations used in galleries, the works they don't always but feel they are supposed to "get", an often overly complicated combination of things that can make getting and understanding art, feeling able to access and be welcomed by it quite a challenge for many people, artists included a great deal of the time.
