Artefakes was a found objects project I began while on Erasmus. Much of my work centres on found and salvaged objects and materials and whilst away I had to find a different approach to collecting. Part of my earlier Lost & Found work was questioning the value of things especially in our throwaway society.
I collected found objects and created new versions modeled with clay and painted them gold. I left them in various locations and mapped where they were left. The idea was that people would see a shiny gold object and automatically assume it had value and go to pick it up.
I included the project in the Free For Arts Festival in Manchester in 2016.
